Hawzah News Agency- scientific meeting "Savior in Islam and Hinduism" was held with the presence of prominent figures from Iran and India for mutual understanding between different cultures and religions. This meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and inter-religious views and to gain a deeper understanding of common spiritual concepts and fundamental differences between religious teachings.
In Islam, the concept of a savior is always associated with the concept of waiting for the appearance of the promised Mahdi (PBUH), who will establish justice and peace in the world. This belief has a central significance especially among the Shia Muslims and it is also visible in the Sunni doctrine with some differences.
In Hinduism, however, the concept of a savior is expressed in the form of Kalki Avatar, the last avatar of Vishnu, who is supposed to appear during the Kali Yuga era to destroy evil and restore dharma (moral order and law); Both concepts suggest the expectation of a savior who will restore justice and harmony to the world.
The presenters of this meeting were Hojjat al-Islam Mahdi Mahdavipour, the representative of Iran’s supreme leader in the Indian subcontinent, Dr. Balram Shukla, the respected cultural consultant and writer from India, and Dr. Mohammad Rouhani, the director of the Department of Religions and Mysticism of the University of Religions and Denominations, who presented different concepts and exchanged views. Commenting on the spiritual concepts associated with the savior allowed for better understanding and mutual respect between the followers of these two religions.
